Steel Shot S70 is a type of ballistic material used as a projectile in abrasive blast cleaning and shot peening. Steel Shot S70 is a metallic pellet made of an iron-carbon alloy that is bluish-gray and black in color. They can be finished in a variety of ways, providing a wide range of corrosion resistance levels. Steel shot is typically available in the form of highly polished, perfect spheres that have been annealed to soften them.

Steel shot is a spherical metallic abrasive media formed by the atomization of molten steel. Steel Shots are primarily used in metalworking industries such as ferrous and non-ferrous foundries, steel mills, forge shops, and metal fabricators for sand removal and improving metal surface preparation with a shot blasting machine.

Because of its robustness and high durability, it produces the most cost-effective abrasive media with a recycling capacity of more than 30 times. A larger steel shot cleans a rougher surface more vigorously. A sand blasting machine is used to accelerate steel shots on the surface. Steel shot produces the least dust because their manufacturing process is gentle. Steel shots are used to clean heavy metal parts such as engine turbine blades, crankshafts, and heavy-duty springs, among other things.

Steel Shot S70 Uses

Here are some uses of steel shots:-

  1. After the preliminary process of surface profiling, coating, painting, bonding, and other processes are performed on metal surfaces to provide excellent surface profiles such as anchoring, different patterns on metal or wood surfaces, and matte finish. In this process, Steel Shot S70 is used.

  2. It aids in the removal of scale deposition on metal surfaces, such as those used in column or vessel walls for descaling.

  3. Steel Shots is dust-free, making it ideal for dustless blasting machine and used in surface preparation, rust removal, and shipbuilding applications. It is also commonly used in ship maintenance.

  4. To check for inadequacy in the process, the steel surface yields the best results for removing contamination from the surface during the clean surface check.

  5. Some of the physical properties of steel shots give them an advantage over other abrasive materials, such as low friability (like metal durability). Steel shots with low friability may not break into small pieces when influenced by the rubbing process.

Advantages of Steel Shot S70

  1. One of the primary benefits of using steel shot s70 is that it lowers the cost of machine maintenance.

  2. Steel Shot S70 produces a surface that is flawlessly smooth and spotless.

  3. Because of the material's high durability, steel shot s70 has a long lifeline and thus is cost-effective. It also has a good recycling ability, so material waste is reduced.

  4. It has a long lifespan and equal sizing.

  5. It is lighter than other metal shots (zinc shots, lead shots), so it can be used for blasting in any industry.

Steel Shots Manufacturers

We are one of the leading Steel Shot Manufacturers, exporters, and suppliers, which is widely used in a variety of industries. Steel Shot is commonly used in blasting operations to clean the inner and outer surfaces of steel castings, CI castings, S.G. Iron castings, and forgings, to name a few. Furthermore, these are primarily used for removing rust, dust, scales, and other contaminants, as well as shot-peening operations to remove surface stresses.

In order to maintain compliance with universally accepted norms, our vendors precisely manufacture the offered range using quality approved Steel Shots.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's)

The steel shot works well for peening and deburring stampings and other fabrications. Its qualities make it ideal for cleaning corrosion from machinery and equipment surfaces. Cast steel shot is frequently used to deflash aluminum die castings and can get rid of the buildup of release agents on molds.
Does shot blasting with steel shots remove rust?
Steel shot blasting polishes strengthens, and cleans the metal. It enables the engineer to find any weaknesses before coating and fixing them. Additionally, it eliminates rust, dust, and grease.
What is the abrasive media used for shot blasting?
Steel Shots, Steel grit, copper shots, and aluminum oxide are a few examples of the metal abrasives used in shot blasting. Silica sand, glass beads, artificial materials like sodium bicarbonate (baking soda), and even agricultural materials like crushed kernels are used in other shot blasting techniques.
Use of steel shot in media blasting
The most popular abrasive for cleaning, stripping, and enhancing a metal surface is steel shot blasting media. Cleaning, descaling, surface preparation, and shot peening are all done with steel shots. The final finish achieved on the metal's surface will depend on the grade or size of the steel shot.
